About

Mark Davis is a database engineer and architect with more than thirty years of Oracle experience. At Pedernales Electric Cooperative he spent fourteen years as project manager, architect, and lead developer of an enterprise utility billing platform — an architecture an outside consulting firm compared favorably to SAP.

From 2015 until his retirement he led database modernization at Our Town America in Clearwater, Florida, carrying production systems from Oracle 12c through 23ai and onto Oracle Cloud Infrastructure while modernizing the application stack from PHP 5 to PHP 8.

He holds an M.S. in Management Information Systems from Southern Illinois University and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado.

He writes middle-grade mysteries under the name MA Datit — the Hannah D series, set among the ruins of ancient civilizations — along with an adult travel book and a catalog of songs.

The two halves are less separate than they look. A production database and a fair-play mystery are both things where every piece has to earn its place, and somebody can check your work.

He lives in Treasure Island, Florida.
